( box exterior worn) More information from the web regarding the Monumento al Lavoro Genoa ( Monument of work): The sculpture that Gino Guerra dedicated to the Port of Genoa is structured in a spiral, in particular, in the form of an "increasing" spiral in both its aspects: first of all the band one, which along its almost eight meters of development, gradually passes from thirty centimeters at the base to eighty-five at the top; the other is the one of the gradual expansion of the band to the external space. Guerra therefore conceived a double rhythm of growth of the spiral. Another rhythm is added, it acts as a counterpoint to the abstract-geometric form of the spiral, and is linked to the figurative presences arranged in a continuous frieze on the band. This simple description immediately recall, I believe, the symbolic values of his work: an increasingly role and importance of the work in society. The concept of work becomes a fundamental condition for the expansion of human society in its modified space. The same symbolic values are further defined in relation to Genoa and its Port, in the presence of life and in the regular flow of the furrows along the band, which gives the form of a thick wave and continues a destiny marked by water
