Description
This is a solid iron Post-modern style sculpture of a horse by Egyptian artist Mohamed Rizk (1937-2008). Rizk was a prolific artist and primarily sculptor who specialized in metalwork. His work is widely collected internationally in both museums and private collections. The sculpture is solid, weighing 2lbs and 12.6oz. It is securely mounted on a 2.5 in by 5.25 in wooden base. What appears to be a copper engraved plaque is mounted on one end with the inscripture "Sculptor M. Rizk." I am not sure of the metal type, but it appears to be a solid steel like metal with a reflective aged silver patina. I personally find the sculpture quite striking with its bold, cubist like presence. On the bottom is a felt protective covering with what appears to be an Egyptian gallery identification label. The piece measures 7.75" tall. It securely rests upon a 2.5" X 5.5" rectangular wood base. Overall, the horse projects 6.5" wide. Thanks for looking!
